Update #2

Had to start drinking the dreaded MoviPrep at 6:00. My BFF from Mandeville came over to keep me company, along with my parents.

As a sign of solidarity (and personal cleansing), Jamie drank magnesium citrate while I downed 1 liter of Moviprep.

It was... Tolerable? Initially? Tasted like REALLY salty, lime flavored something. Jamie suggested we drink out of wine glasses. I went with a champagne flute vs the suggested suck it down with a straw method.

I choked the liter down in a little under an hour and a half. The last 2 sips made me gag. I probably starting using the bathroom within 10 minutes, every 15 min or so.

Been balancing my sugars out with regular Popsicles and low sugar G2 Gatorade. I'm ok running on the higher side right now.

So I get to wake up at 4 am and drink another liter, followed by a clear liquid of my choice.

Thanks to Jamie for coming over and keeping me company! And bringing the movie This is 40... Pretty funny!!

Update #1

Well after nearly 2 hours at the DMV to renew my driver's license, I'm back home to begin my prep.

First, a stop at Sonic for 3 route 44 drinks: diet cherry limeade, diet green tea, and a regular Powerade slush.

Heated up some chicken broth for "lunch".

Blood sugar check prior: 81

A little low for me, so I added a regular jello to my menu and will not take insulin yet.

4 Ducolax down.... Then drinking the major stuff starts at 6....

80 year old body, 27 year old mind

Well, I've often wondered how, as a type 1 diabetic, I would ever fast/maintain a liquid diet for a procedure such as a colonoscopy. Thought I had at least a good 20 years to worry about it. Wrong.

Getting one tomorrow to investigate some GI issues, of which I will spare you the details.

Today I will drink only liquids, eat jello, and broth, all while maintaining a delicate balance of insulin doses and maintaining my blood sugars at a safe level.

Challenge accepted.

And I intend to blog along the way!

Starting weight: 130.4

AM blood sugar: 121

Coke

This unexpected bad boy called for a regular coke... Been a while. Never come up that low before either. Very few symptoms with this one besides a slight headache and irritability, both of which I believed were puppy related.

F you, low blood sugar

Went out and about today, shopping and looking for adoptable puppies. Stopped at our fav sushi place for dinner. Blood sugar check in restaurant: 68. Didn't feel at symptoms til I saw the number.

Now that doesn't seem super low, but man it was a beast to get my sugar back up, and the physical symptoms lasted forever! Which of course, increased y anxiety. Overall a miserable almost-hour waiting to get back to "normal".

We got our sushi to go, and when I felt better, ate it at home.

I hate you diabetes. I am grateful you're manageable.

XOXO,
Ashley
